The Fushimi-Inari Shinto shrine in the southern part of the city of Kyoto, Japan, is know for these torii that line the hillside above the main temple. Each of these arches honors or memorializes someone. The Japanese characters are carved on the other side of the torii shown here. This panoramic photograph was taken with a Hasselblad X-pan camera.
