Tomb of Unknown Soldier

Military officer saluting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Plateia Syntagma in central Athens, Greece. The building to the rear is the National Parliament, built in 1842 as a palace for King Otto. In 1930 a figure of a dying Greek soldier was carved into the wall to create the Unknown Soldier memorial to all Greek soldiers who have died since independence. This photograph was made with a Hasselblad HD-31 digital camera.
