Not arrested, now photographing in San Miguel de Allende
When I last wrote we were outside the police station waiting to find out if the driver or vehicle were going to be in trouble. Just a few minutes later we were on our way. We don't know how the issue of transporting tourists without a tourist license plate was resolved. We arrived in San Miguel about on time as the drivers way exceed the speed limits to make up time.
The hotel here is "funky" to use Harvey's words, each room being different. The beds are a thin mattress over a plywood board. Three nights are plenty. The main event here was to photograph more than life size paper mache figures that spin around when lighted, and then explode when the fuse reaches the gunpowder inside the figure. The figures are suspended over the street, and the spectators are kept back, but were we within 15 yards of some of the figures. This kind of event would be impossible in the US due to insurance and governmental regulations.
